Pompeii: The ancient ruins of Pompeii are just a 30-minute drive from Naples. Pompeii was buried under ash and pumice when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD, and the site is now home to excavated ruins which you can explore on foot.
Amalfi Coast: Around an hour and a half from Naples, the Amalfi Coast is the perfect place to explore by car. With 50km of coastline, the area is characterised by rugged cliffs, small beaches and pastel-coloured towns nestled in the hills. The Amalfi Coast is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, due to its diversity and breathtaking natural beauty — and when you see the stunning scenery for yourself, it’s easy to see why it’s received the accolade.
Sorrento: The coastal town of Sorrento is just over an hour’s drive from Naples, and is a great choice for a scenic and culture-rich day out. The cliff-top town boasts a historic centre, where you will find a maze of narrow alleyways and a 14th-century church. The attractive harbour area is well worth exploring, too.
