Beelu National Park: 40km east of Perth along the Mundaring Weir Road, the Beelu National Park is an area of astounding natural beauty. The forest is also home to numerous species of wildlife (including kangaroos, wallabies and cockatoos), so bring your binoculars and see if you can spot any animals yourself. Cohunu Koala Park: The Cohunu Koala Park is just a 45-minute drive south of Perth, and it’s a fantastic day out for the whole family. The park has plenty to keep visitors young and old entertained: you can hand-feed kangaroos, cuddle a koala (and get a souvenir photo) and have a conversation with over 30 talking parrots! Other species at the park include deer, dingoes, emus and owls. The park isn’t just about animals — you can take a ride on the miniature railway, visit the steam train museum or learn about the solar system in the space observatory.
Rockingham Beach: Just 40 minutes south of Perth, Rockingham beach is the ideal place to relax and unwind. The soft, white sand is flanked with shallow waters, so it’s perfect if you have children who will want to paddle and play in the sea. There are plenty of grassed areas where you can have a picnic or barbecue, or you can buy fish and chips from one of the takeaways along the seafront.
