Amphawa Floating Market: Situated approximately 90 kilometres from Bangkok, the picturesque location of Amphawa is home to a quaint floating market and a small community of cafés, restaurants and wooden shop-houses selling souvenirs, books and Thai sweets. The sights, smells and sounds here are an explosion on the senses, as vendor boats serve-up delicious bowls of noodles, rice porridge, grilled squid and river prawns. Ayutthaya Historical Park: A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ancient city of Ayutthaya is located approximately 83 kilometres from Bangkok. Once the capital of Thailand, the area is now known as the Ayutthaya Historical Park, and boasts some of the country’s must important archaeological sites. In addition to the ancient ruins of temples and palaces, there are several fascinating museums exhibiting a wealth of artefacts which were discovered during excavations.
Khao Yai National Park: Although Thailand’s third largest National Park is around a three-hour drive from Bangkok, visiting Khao Yai is definitely worth making the effort. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this lush mountainous landscape boasts fertile valleys and magnificent waterfalls —not to mention fascinating wildlife which includes elephants, tigers, leopards, gibbons, macaques and pythons.
