Avakas Gorge: Situated under one hour’s drive from Paphos, the Avakas Gorge is one of nature’s wonders. Carved out of limestone rocks rising up as high as 30 metres, the gorge presents a challenging hike as the rough track winds around and over the stream that created this popular attraction. Parts of the walk are slippery and involve clambering over rocks — therefore, solid footwear and sensible clothes are highly recommended.
Ancient Kourion: Considered to be one of Cyprus’ most important archaeological sites, the ancient city of Kourion is located near the town of Episkopi (a 40-minute drive from Paphos). A must-see for visitors to the island, the site has many monuments and well-preserved mosaics; the majority of which date from the Roman period. The highlight has to be the Greek Roman theatre, which has been lovingly restored and is regularly used for open-air musical and theatrical performances.
Fasouri Watermania: As Cyprus’ largest waterpark, Fasouri Watermania guarantees a fun day out for the whole family. Situated in Limassol, less than one hour’s drive from Paphos, the waterpark has many exciting attractions such as the Wet Wall Climb and the exhilarating Black Holes and Kamikaze Slide. The Lazy River is perfect for those looking for a more relaxing alternative, and there’s a separate pool for the little ones to paddle around in.
