Rhine Falls: Just over an hour’s drive from Zurich, the Rhine Falls is Europe’s largest waterfall. Formed in the last ice age, the waterfall stands at 75 feet tall. Once you’re at the site, you can take a boat trip to see the natural wonder up close — and you can even climb the famous rock in the middle of the waterfall if you want to be rewarded with breathtaking views. The falls are a great place to visit if you’re interested in outdoor pursuits — some of the leisure activities on offer include hiking, cycling and canoeing. There’s even a tree-top adventure park where you can traverse various obstacles, free-fall from a 13-metre platform or zip-line for 460 metres above the waterfall.
Winterhur: Rich in history and culture, the city of Winterhur is a great day out from Zurich. The heart of the city dates back to medieval times, so it’s a great place to visit for anyone with an interest in history.
Lucerne: Undeniably romantic, the stunning city of Lucerne is just a 45-minute drive from Zurich. Picturesque and traditional, Lucerne is home to 14th-century city walls, the Kapellbrücke (a covered, wooden footbridge over the River Reuss) and a vibrant ‘old town’ characterised by spired and turreted buildings. Meander along the narrow, cobbled streets, taking in the captivating medieval architecture.
