Dollar Rent A Car was founded in 1966 in Los Angeles, California. The rental car company was originally called "Dollar A Day Rent A Car." Dollar's philosophy has always been to provide customers with the best service available in the industry at the most competitive prices possible. In 1990, Dollar was acquired by Chrysler and was made part of its Pentastar Transportation Group, Inc., along with Thrifty Car Rental and Snappy Car Rental in Tulsa (Snappy sold in 1994). With 629 worldwide rental car locations in 52 countries, including more than 359 in the United States and Canada, Dollar serves value conscious consumers around the world.
